Yuletide Letter 2020

Dear Yuletide Writer:

Thank you for whatever you end up writing for me! I know I'll love it no matter what!

I don't have any triggers or anything I absolutely wouldn't want to see in a story. I like the kinds of stories that take place in universe and match the tone of the original. It's fun to see what's happening in the characters' lives post-series or behind the scenes.

Before I get into the letter, here are a couple of other Yuletide letters I wrote for previous years in case that might help you come up with more ideas:

Here are a few things I like in general:

-Hurt/Comfort

I like a good Hurt/Comfort story! I like the kind of story where someone gets hurt or sick and the other characters have to take care of them. I like the comfort part better than the hurt part, but that’s not to say I don’t want to know the details of how they got hurt or sick.

-Brotherly Love

I like the kind of dynamic where there’s two guy friends and one of them is older and they’re really close. They have a strong bond and they’re always there for each other, and the older one feels protective of the younger one.

-Adventure and Action

I like when there’s stakes to the story, something vital that drives the characters to go on a journey. If it’s the kind of universe where there would be action, I like a good action scene. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge choreographed fight scene. Just a brief clash, or even just the sense that a clash happened.

-Crossovers

If there's anything you think would work well as a crossover with any of these fandoms and prompts, do it! I'm open to crossovers!

And here are the prompts for the different fandoms!:

Skyward Sword

I really love the the knight academy in Skyward Sword. We can go back there as many times as we want, but we don’t know that much about daily school life for the students. I want a story that takes place before the game, and explores Link’s school days at the academy. Like I said, I’m a total sucker for Hurt/Comfort, so I want a part in the story where Link is failing really bad at being a knight and Pipit, being his upperclassmen, has to cheer him up. Or he gets sick or hurt and Pipit has to take care of him.

Zelda and Link are really close in Skyward Sword, so it would be great to know a little more about their relationship too. She would probably be supportive of him as he went through knight school, and maybe she participates in the Hurt/Comfort too!

By the way, I never actually finished Skyward Sword! I got to this part in the middle where you’re fighting this cyclops monster in the Lanayru Desert, and that’s the last thing I remember about it! So please don't talk about anything that happens later in the game.

Spies in Disguise

I love this movie so much I saw it twice in theaters! I love how ridiculous the premise is, and by the end of the movie I was low key (okay, high key) shipping Lance and Walter. I want a story about their continuing adventures at the agency. Is there a new villain? A mission? How does their relationship progress? Is it brotherly? Romantic? Did the pigeon transformation technology improve?

I just want a fun story set after the movie that has more Lance and Walter interaction!

Shadow of the Colossus:

I saw that Agro and Agro alone was nominated for Shadow of the Colossus, and I felt like it was my duty to request a story about him. Here are some prompts:

-Agro goes to the ends of the earth to save the master he loves. Reviving Wander won’t be easy.

-How the heck did Agro survive?

-What do Agro and the girl do at the end of the game? Where do they go? Does she realize this is her friend/brother/boyfriend’s horse?

If it would help with the story and you want to give Agro the ability to talk or telepathically communicate with other characters in the story, go ahead. Go crazy.

Castlevania

Alucard is the most compelling character in the show for me. His father is freaking Dracula, and yet he has compassion for others. He’s full of despair but strong enough to not get swallowed up by it, at least until the last few moments of the second season. Seeing him burst into tears is the most powerful moment in the show, and there could be lots of reasons why he’s crying.

I’d like a story that explores Alucard’s despair. What was his childhood like? What was his relationship like with his parents? What was his parent’s relationship like with each other? Was Dracula a good father or even a good person before going crazy? And finally, why exactly is he crying? Why exactly is he in such despair?

I included Trevor and Sypha in my request because I thought it would make sense for them to be there and I thought it could be interesting to explore exactly what Alucard thinks of them. We know he and Trevor have a rocky relationship and we know he and Sypha respect each other, but the show doesn’t go into much detail about how he feels about them. Does he think of them as friends and comrades, or just temporary allies to help him achieve his goals?

I don’t mind if you decide not to include Trevor and Sypha as much. I want the story to mostly focus on Alucard. I’m open to any kind of story you want to write that touches on these ideas.

Here are a few random things I think about the show that I thought might help you:

-I like watching this show, but I always feel like there’s something missing from the character interactions. I like to think they care about each other, but it never feels like anyone really likes each other. It’s more like they’re putting up with each other.

-Of the three main characters, I think Alucard was cast the best. I think that’s one of the reasons why he’s my favorite character!

-The show takes itself overly seriously. I don’t mind seriousness or drama, but there’s something about the show that makes me feel like it takes itself TOO seriously!

P.S. As of writing this, I've only seen a couple of episodes of the third season. I thought I should mention that in case some of the questions I brought up actually get answered in the later half of the third season and you're thinking "But that already got answered!" I'll be all caught up by the time Yuletide stories come out so don't worry about spoiling anything!

Maleficent

I’ve seen both movies and I really like the universe. I like that Maleficent seems kind of evil and unapproachable but secretly cares about her friends. I’d like a story that’s an adventure. Maybe something happens in the moors or in the human world and our heroes need to figure out how to stop it. Or maybe the Dark Fey are figuring out how to integrate into the world after being in hiding for so long.

I like Maleficent and Diaval’s partnership, how he’s her right hand man. I like Maleficent’s relationship with Aurora, how she loves Aurora and has truly become her godmother. It’s okay if Philip is on the sidelines. To be honest, I like his personality better in the animated movie! If you can add some of his personality and daring abilities from the animated movie into it, that would help me like him better, but again it’s okay if he’s more of a side character!

Also, if you want to write it as a crossover with other Disney movies I’m totally open to that! I wrote a Maleficent/Kingdom Hearts crossover if you want to check that out for ideas on the kinds of things I like for this universe!

Thank you so much for writing for me. I’ll appreciate whatever you come up with. I can’t wait to read it!
