Dear Yuletide Writer:

Thank you in advance for writing for me! This is my first time doing Yuletide and I’m really excited to see what you come up with! I’m sure I’ll love it no matter what :D

I don’t really have any triggers or anything that I really don’t want to read about. I like stories that match the tone of the original and take place within the original universe. It’s fun to read about what the characters might do once the series is over or things that happen to them during the series that we don’t get to see.

Okay, here’s a list of all of the fandoms I requested and what I like about each of them:

Plants vs Zombies

I remember when I first read about Plants vs. Zombies before it even came out. I thought it was so crazy, and I still think it’s crazy. But I love it! I love the colorful flowers and the hilarious writing. Half the fun is reading through the almanac, which has descriptions of all the flowers and zombies (You can find that right here: http://www.popcap.com/games/plants-vs-zombies/almanac). My favorite character is Sunflower because of the Plants vs. Zombies music video (which you can find here!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0N1_0SUGlDQ). I also really love Crazy Dave. He’s such a funny and…well…crazy character!

I’d love a story that has the plants getting into some silly trouble, probably because of Crazy Dave. Does Crazy Dave have some sort of harebrained scheme to defeat the zombies? Does he invent something that goes horribly wrong? Or maybe one of the plants has an idea for some sort of strategy against the zombies. The owner of “your” house could also make an appearance.

If you’ve never played Plants vs. Zombies before, you can play the demo for free here: http://www.miniclip.com/games/plants-vs-zombies/en/ It lets you play the first three or four worlds.

Paper Mario

I’ve always loved the original Paper Mario, and I’ve always been disappointed that none of the sequels continued that original story. I always wanted to know what happened next with all those characters! I especially loved Princess Peach’s adventures with Twink. I’d love a story that takes place after Paper Mario with those two as the main characters. Did Bowser do something evil again? Is there a new bad guy making trouble? Or maybe there’s no trouble at all and it’s just an ordinary day. I also loved Luigi in this game. He’s so carefree and funny! And Mario should probably make an appearance too since it is his game! :D I’d love a story where they all come together and have a little adventure where they visit some of the locations from the original game and meet some of those original characters. But if you want to just stick to the characters in Toad Town, that’s okay too.

The Drakon Series (Specifically The Smoke Thief)

I’ve been in love with this historical romance called The Smoke Thief since I was like 13. It was a little mature for me at the time (there are a few slightly graphic sex scenes, and re-reading it now I realize that half the time I didn’t even realize they were having sex ^^U) but I was mostly there for the magical, shapeshifting dragon people. It’s all about these shapeshifters called the drakon who can turn to dragon and smoke. They live in the mountains in northern England and they’re very secretive about their tribe, so no one is allowed to leave or reveal themselves to regular humans.

Clarissa Rue Hawthorne is half drakon half human, so everyone in the tribe treats her very poorly. She manages to escape the tribe and run away to London, where she uses her ability to shapeshift into smoke to steal rich people’s jewels. Years later the tribe notices that London newspapers keep writing about the “Smoke Thief,” and they figure it’s an escaped drakon. Christoff, the macho and amazingly good looking Alpha leader of the drakon, goes personally to London with the tribe’s prized diamond in order to lure out this Smoke Thief.

Unfortunately, the plan backfires and some other random person steals the diamond. The leaders of the tribe start freaking out because that diamond is their most prized treasure. Rue, who Christoff managed to capture from London, promises the leaders that she’ll help them find the diamond thief in exchange for getting to live her life in London free from the tribe. They begrudgingly agree and Rue and Christoff go to London to find the thief, and that’s the setup for the novel.

I felt like I had to describe the plot to this because I’m pretty sure that no one in all of Yuletide has ever read this book. Props to you if you have! I’ve always loved The Smoke Thief because of the great mixture of magic, adventure and romance, and I really loved the dynamic between Rue and Christoff. I was excited to see what the sequel, The Dream Thief, would be about, but I was disappointed to find out that it centered on Rue and Christoff’s daughter and not them.

I’d like a story that’s about Rue and Christoff going on some new adventure. I’m not too particular about what kind of adventure it is. I just want more shapeshifting dragon action! And romance!

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

When I was a kid, Majora’s Mask was both really fun and really creepy. I loved how you never knew when someone was going to say, “Hey, can you do this for me?” and how you didn’t always know how you were going to help everyone (I always remember when I first figured out how to help toilet hand guy!). I loved that everything seemed bleak but that there was still some hope since you were Link and were here to save the day. One of my favorite parts was finding all the secrets in Clock Town. There was so much to discover there, and those townsfolk were kind of crazy! I have a few ideas for story prompts for this one, so I’ll list them out:

o   The townsfolk start to ask Link to do more and more elaborate favors for them until he decides that he should probably get around to saving the world. With all the time travel he does, he figures it’s kind of pointless anyway. Every time he goes back in time, they forget everything he did for them.

o   I like to think that the Fierce Deity used to be a regular guy who lived in Clock Town before becoming a hero. Link finds out about the Fierce Deity’s past through conversations with people in Clock Town and also by exploring places where he used to live and hang out.

o   I also like to think the Skull Kid lived in clock town as a regular kid before becoming “the Skull Kid.” This could be similar to my idea about the Fierce Deity except with the Skull Kid.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

My favorite part of Skyward Sword was Skyloft. It’s such a colorful and lively place, and it was always so much fun running around aimlessly and talking to everyone. I especially liked the Knight Academy where all of the trainees and knights live, but we never really get to see what life is like there. I’d like a story about Link and Pippit’s time living there at the Knight Academy. I like all the other Academy characters too, like the wimpy guy and the serious girl, so feel free to include them too! It can take place before the game or during the game during one of Link’s visits home.

By the way, I never actually finished Skyward Sword! The last time I played, I defeated this octopus cyclops monster, and then I saved. I actually think there’s a cutscene waiting for me when I eventually go back! If you write for me for this, can you not reveal anything about the end of the game? I know it’s been forever since it came out, but I’ll finish it eventually! :D

Mighty Ducks: The Animated Series

Most of my knowledge of this series comes from this one direct-to-video movie called Mighty Ducks the Movie: The First Face-Off, which is actually just a few of the episodes strung together to seem like a movie. When we were little kids, me and my brother would watch that movie over and over again. We loved it so much! I’ve seen some of the other episodes over the years but my frame of reference for “The Mighty Ducks” is that movie. I’ve also always loved the Mondo Man episode and the one where dinosaurs attack the city.

If you write for me for this, I’d be happy with anything that’s similar to the show. Is Dragaunus up to no good again? Is there a new villain causing trouble? It would also be cool if you wrote something that delved into one of the characters’ thoughts and emotions about everything that’s happened to them. My favorite characters were Wildwing, Nosedive, Tanya and Duke L'Orange, but Nosedive was my favorite of all of them! If you could feature him even just briefly, that would be great!

Here are some links to the episodes they strung together to make the movie. It actually worked really well! At first we didn’t even realize there was a show! If you watch these back to back it’s like you’ve seen the movie. Together they last about 1 hour.

That’s it for all of the fandoms I requested. I want to say sorry again for being so late with this letter! Thank you so much for doing Yuletide and volunteering to write for whichever fandom we matched on! I can’t wait to read your story!
