Yuletide Letter 2019

Dear Yuletide Writer:

Sorry for the delay on the letter! Thank you for whatever great story you come up with for me! I know I'll love it no matter what!

I don't have any triggers or anything I absolutely wouldn't want to see in a story. I like the kinds of stories that take place in universe and match the tone of the original. It's fun to see what's happening in the characters lives post-series or behind the scenes.

Here are a few things I like in general:

-Hurt/Comfort

I like a good Hurt/Comfort story! I like the kind of story where someone gets hurt or sick and the other characters have to take care of them. I like the comfort part better than the hurt part, but that’s not to say I don’t want to know the details of how they got hurt or sick.

-Brotherly Love

I like the kind of dynamic where there’s two guy friends and one of them is older and they’re really close. They have a strong bond and they’re always there for each other, and the older one feels protective of the younger one.

-Adventure and Action

I like when there’s stakes to the story, something vital that drives the characters to go on a journey. If it’s the kind of universe where there would be action, I like a good action scene. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge choreographed fight scene. Just a brief clash, or even just the sense that a clash happened.

And here are the prompts for the different fandoms!:

Skyward Sword

I really love the the knight academy in Skyward Sword. We can go back there as many times as we want, but we don’t know that much about daily school life for the students. I want a story that takes place before the game, and explores Link’s school days at the academy. Like I said, I’m a total sucker for Hurt/Comfort, so I want a part in the story where Link is failing really bad at being a knight and Pippit and/or Karane, being his upperclassmen, have to cheer him up. Or he gets sick or hurt and they have to take care of him.

Zelda and Link are really close in Skyward Sword, so it would be great to know a little more about their relationship too. She would probably be supportive of him as he went through knight school, and maybe she participates in the Hurt/Comfort too!

By the way, I never actually finished Skyward Sword! I got to this part in the middle where you’re fighting this cyclops monster in the Lanayru Desert, and that’s the last thing I remember about it! So please don't talk about anything that happens later in the game.

Majora’s Mask

Link had a lot of bad things happen to him because of magic, and so did Anju and Kafei. I feel like they would be able to relate to each other. Years later Link returns to Termina and stays at Anju’s inn. Anju and Kafei remember him, and they’re all able to bond over the past. Again, I love the hurt/comfort! Link probably experienced a lot of horrifying things in Majora’s Mask. Anju and Kafei are able to help him overcome the ghosts and trauma he has from that time.

Paper Mario

I want a story that takes place after the original Paper Mario where Mario takes Princess Peach and Luigi to one or two of the places he went on his first journey, like Goomba Village or Koopa Village, or any of the other places they went in any of the chapters. I feel like Twink would appear out of nowhere at some point like he always does to join them!

I’m not too picky about which locations they visit. I just want to see Mario revisiting some of the characters and places from the original Paper Mario. I was a little disappointed that Thousand Year Door didn’t continue the story from the original game, so I want to see the story explore how the different regions have progressed since the first game. Maybe Mario is taking his friends on this journey for fun, or maybe it’s because danger is afoot yet again. You can decide whether you want to write it as a fun trip or a serious journey. Either one would be interesting!

Animal Crossing

The thought of Isabelle working out and training to prepare for Smash Ultimate has always been so funny to me! I want a story where Isabelle wants to prepare to join the battle, but Digby and Bones, the lazy villager, keep giving her conflicting advice. Digby wants her to do it by the book and stick to a strict diet and training regimen. Bones tells her not to worry about it and just do what he would do, which is not prepare at all. They drive Isabele crazy until the Mayor (me!!) helps her to find a balanced workout and diet plan.

My town in New Leaf is the Town of Destiny and I’m Mayor Geech! I have pink hair!

Detective Pikachu

SPOILERS FOR DETECTIVE PIKACHU BELOW IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IT YET!

I just want a wholesome story starring Tim and his dad (who has somehow turned into a Pikachu again!) that takes place after the movie. Maybe the story focuses on their journey to get his dad back to human again. But this time they also have the help of Tim’s dad’s Pikachu, who has always been the brains behind the operation anyway.
